Every device that is connected to the web has a specific identifier named IP (Internet Protocol) address. This includes PCs, web servers, smartphones, switches, etc. The pool of IPs, which was introduced at first, has been distributed, hence the so-called IPv4 IP addresses are slowly being replaced with IPv6 addresses. Every domain name which opens an internet site comes with an IP record, that is the address of the server where it's hosted. When using the IPv4 system, the record is called A and it is comprised of four groups of numbers from 1 to 255 divided by a dot, while in the IPv6 system it is called AAAA and it comprises of eight sets of hexadecimal numbers i.e. this kind of records use numbers from 0 to 9 and letters from A to F. An example of an AAAA record is 2010:0c48:43d3:2142:1012:8c3a:2475:2435 and this format can handle a substantially larger amount of IPs when compared with the IPv4 format.

AAAA Records in Cloud Hosting

The state-of-the-art Hepsia hosting CP, included with our cloud hosting, will allow you to set up a new AAAA record with ease. When you're inside the account and you go to the DNS Records section, you'll discover all records that you have for every hosted domain address or a subdomain under it. All it takes to set up the AAAA record is to click the New Record button, to select the domain/subdomain in question, choose AAAA and then just enter or copy and paste the IPv6 address. We also have a step-by-step guide if you've never created records for your domain addresses, but it's unlikely that you will need it as Hepsia is much easier to work with compared with other Control Panels on the market. Within an hour your new record shall be active and your domain shall start resolving to the servers of the other provider. Additionally, there is an option to modify the TTL value, which outlines how long this record will be active if you edit it, from the default 3600 seconds to any value that the other provider may require.
